Heli fishing trips - Taupo, New Zealand

From Taupo you can be casting for wild New Zealand trout in a quality backcountry river or stream on a day trip or overnight heli fly in fishing trip.

Trips are most suited to experienced anglers with a limited number of options for novices.

The best months are From November to March. November and December offer the best catch rate for fishing with dry fly and nymph. After Christmas fish can get tougher to catch but a true test of an anglers ability. Most fishing is for sighted fish. The pics right are from the Ngaruroro river.

Cost

The cost fo a heli trip will depend on the distance we have to fly. You can expect to pay between $800 and $1800 for return flights. We can give you a more accurate price on enquiry. At different times of year the best options will vary and price will vary accordingly.

What to bring along - fishing gear (optional), rain coat, suitable clothing (see equipment) and camera.

Pick up 8-8.30am, return 5-6pm (6-7 hours fishing)
